Less foreign guest nights

Norwegian hotels recorded 1.31 million guest nights in February 2002, against 1.28 million in February last year. In terms of percentage, business increased three per cent. Compared with February 2001, the foreign market decreased four per cent, and the domestic market increased six per cent.

The largest foreign market in February 2002, Denmark, decreased 10 per cent. Great Britain increased 18 per cent, compared with February last year.

Higher capacity

Compared with February 2001, the capacity of the Norwegian hotel industry has increased in terms of beds and rooms.

Increased room prices

The average room rate in February 2002 was NOK 725, compared with NOK 721 in the corresponding month 2001. The lodging revenue increased from NOK 559 million in February 2001 to NOK 568 million in February 2002.
