Less foreign guest nights

Norwegian hotels recorded 1.46 million guest nights in March 2002, against 1.50 million in March last year. In terms of percentage, business decreased three per cent. Compared with March 2001, the foreign market decreased one per cent, and the domestic market decreased four per cent.

The largest foreign market in March 2002, Denmark, decreased two per cent. Great Britain increased twenty per cent, compared with March last year.

Higher capacity

Compared with March 2001, the capacity of the Norwegian hotel industry has increased in terms of beds and rooms.

Increased room prices

The average room rate in March 2002 was NOK 715, compared with NOK 709 in corresponding month 2001. The lodging revenue decreased from NOK 675 million in March 2001 to NOK 607 million in March 2002.
