More foreigners in Norwegian hotels

Norwegian hotels recorded 1,066 million guest nights in April 2002, against 1,060 million in April last year. This is an increase of one per cent. Compared with April 2001, the domestic market decreased two per cent, and the foreign market increased 11 per cent.

All the major foreign markets increased in April 2002, except Denmark that decreased by 12 per cent compared with April last year.

Higher capacity

Compared with April 2001, the capacity of the Norwegian hotel industry has increased in terms of beds and rooms.

Increased room prices

The average room rate in April 2002 was NOK 714, compared with NOK 713 in the corresponding month 2001. The lodging revenue increased from 478 million NOK in April 2001 to 543 million NOK in April 2002.
