More foreign guest nights

Norwegian hotels recorded 1,79 million guest nights in June 2002, against 1,76 million in June last year. In terms of percentage, business increased by 2 per cent. Compared with June 2001, the foreign market increased by 1 per cent, while the domestic market went up by 2 per cent.

The largest foreign market in June 2002, Germany, decreased by 3 per cent. Great Britain increased 3 per cent, compared with June last year.

Higher capacity

Compared with June 2001, the capacity of the Norwegian hotel industry decreased in terms of beds and increased in terms of rooms.

Increased room prices

The average room rate in June 2002 was NOK 692, compared with NOK 675 in the corresponding month 2001. The lodging revenue increased from NOK 755 million in June 2001 to NOK 785 million in June 2002.
