More guest nights from UK
Norwegian hotels recorded 1,92 million guest nights in August 2002, against 1,97 million in August 2001. In terms of percentage, business decreased by 3 per cent. Compared with August 2001, the foreign market decreased by 6 per cent, and the domestic market by one per cent.
All the largest foreign markets in August 2002 decreased, except for United Kingdom and Spain.
Lower occupancy rates
Compared with August 2001, the occupancy rates both for beds and rooms have decreased.
Increased room prices
The average room rate in August 2002 was NOK 678, compared with NOK 665 in August 2001. The lodging revenue decreased from NOK 777 million in August 2001 to NOK 765 million in August 2002.
