Less foreign guest nights
Norwegian hotels recorded 1.32 million guest nights in September 2002, against 1.35 million in September 2001. In terms of percentage, business decreased by 2 per cent. Compared with September 2001, the foreign market decreased by 2 per cent, and the domestic market by 3 per cent.
Except for USA, all the four largest foreign markets in September 2002 decreased.
Lower occupancy rates
Compared with September 2001, the occupancy rates both for beds and rooms have decreased.
Increased room prices
The average room rate in September 2002 was NOK 705, compared with NOK 691 in September 2001. The lodging revenue decreased from NOK 666 million in September 2001 to NOK 663 million in September 2002.
