Continued decline in February

Norwegian hotels recorded 1.22 million guest nights in February 2003 against 1.31 million in February last year. In terms of percentage, business decreased by seven per cent. Compared with February 2002, the foreign market decreased by ten per cent while the domestic market decreased six per cent.

All the largest foreign market in February 2003 decreased. The largest foreign market, Denmark decreased by 14 per cent.

Occupancy rates

Compared with February 2002, the occupancy rates both for beds and rooms decreased.

Decreased room prices

The average room rate in February 2003 was NOK 727, compared with NOK 725 in the corresponding month 2002. The lodging revenue decreased from NOK 568 million in February 2002 to NOK 545 million in February 2003.
