Norwegian hotels recorded 1.09 millions guest nights in November 2003. This is a decrease of 1 per cent compared with November 2002. The domestic market decreased by 1 per cent, while the foreign market was about unchanged.

The United Kingdom and Denmark, the largest and third largest foreign markets in November 2003, were about unchanged concerning the number of guest nights at Norwegian hotels. The number of guest nights from the second largest foreign market, Sweden, decreased by 4 per cent, while the fourth largest foreign market, Germany, increased by 6 per cent.

Occupancy rates

Compared with November 2002, the occupancy rate for rooms decreased by 0.5 percentage points while the occupancy rate for beds increased by 0.3 percentage points.

Increased room prices and decreased lodging revenue

The average room rate in November was NOK 728 compared with NOK 713 in November 2002. The lodging revenue decreased from NOK 585 millions in November 2002 to NOK 584 millions in November 2003.

January-November

After 11 months of 2003, the number of guest nights decreased by 4 per cent compared with the same period in 2002. The domestic market decreased by 2 per cent, while the foreign market decreased by 7 per cent.
