With passenger figures 3.5 per cent lower in 2003 than in 2002, the world's most beautiful voyage failed to continue the positive trend from its peak year.
Passenger figures for October, November and December decreased by 13, 16 and 17 per cent respectively. In October the number of passengers on the southbound route fell by more than 20 per cent, while the number of passengers on the northbound route fell by 6.5 per cent. In November and December the decrease was more evenly split between the northbound and southbound route.
With the exception of Bergen, Geiranger, Harstad and Kirkenes, all ports of call recorded a decrease in the number of passengers from 2002 to 2003. Bergen and Kirkenes saw passenger figures grow by 4.2 and 8.8 per cent respectively.
