Moderate rise in costs for the bus industry
The cost index for buses had a moderate increase of 2.6 per cent relative to the 2nd quarter of 2012. Compared to the previous quarter, however, the index declined slightly.

The sub-indices for wages, administrative costs and repair and maintenance costs contributed to the increase in costs.
Higher labour costs
The sub-cost index for wages was 6.4 per cent higher during the 2nd quarter of 2013 compared to the same quarter in 2012. The sub-index had a 1 per cent increase with respect to the 1st quarter of 2013.
Declining fuel costs
The sub-index for fuel costs declined from 117.8 to 115.2 from the 2nd quarter of 2012 to the 2nd quarter of 2013; a decline of 2.2 per cent.
The sub-indices for administrative costs and repair and maintenance costs have increased by 3.2 and 3.1 per cent respectively over the last year. The sub-index for capital costs declined during the same period.
