Small increase in number of guest nights

The number of guest nights at Norwegian collective accommodation establishments amounted to 23.51 millions in January to November in 2002, an increase of 0.6 per cent compared with same period the year before. The domestic demand increased by 1.1 per cent, while the foreign decreased by 0.5 per cent.

Less German guest nights

Germany was the largest foreign market during the period of January to November 2002, with 1,67 millions guest nights at all collective accommodation establishments. German guest nights decreased by 1.4 per cent compared with the corresponding period in 2001, and Germans stayed less in hotels.

The Danish market amounted to a 3 per cent decrease compared with January to November in 2001, and the Danes also had fewer guest nights at hotels.

Camping and holiday dwellings increased

The number of stays at camping sites amounted to 7.29 million in the period of January to November 2002. Foreign as well as domestic guest nights went up compared with the same period in 2001. The number of guest nights at Norwegian holiday dwellings amounted to 464 000, an increase of 6 per cent from the corresponding period the year before. The Norwegian and foreign market guest nights increased by 4 and 7 per cent respectively.
