Decrease in number of guest nights

The number of guest nights at Norwegian collective accommodation establishments decreased by 6 per cent, from 1.79 millions in September last year to 1.68 millions in September this year. The domestic demand decreased by 7 per cent, while the foreign demand decreased by 4 per cent.

The three largest foreign markets, Germany, Sweden and the United Kingdom, all decreased.

Decrease for camping sites

Camping sites had a decrease of 23 per cent compared with September last year, while holiday dwellings increased by 12 per cent. One reason for this increase is that some of the establishments incorrectly were categorised as hotels. Hotels and Hostelling International Norway both experienced a decrease.

Fewer guest nights so far this year

After the first nine months in 2003, the number of guest nights decreased 3 per cent compared with the same period last year.
