Increase in number of guest nights at hotels

Number of guest nights at the hotels increased by 4 per cent compared with April last year. Norwegians increased by 2 per cent and foreigners had an increase of 16 per cent.

The largest foreign market, Sweden, increased by 12 per cent compared with April last year. The other large foreign markets, the United Kingdom, Denmark and Germany all increased.

Unchanged room prices and increased lodging revenue

The average room rate in April was NOK 716 compared with NOK 717 in April last year. The lodging turnover increased from NOK 464 millions in April last year to NOK 478 millions in April this year.

Increased occupancy rates

Compared with April last year, the occupancy rate both for rooms and beds increased.

After first four months

After the first four months of 2004, there has been 4.7 millions guest nights. This is an increase of 5 per cent compared with the same period last year.

1.41 million guest nights

In April this year, there were 1.41 million guest nights at the Norwegian collective accommodation establishments total, an increase of 5 per cent compared with April last year. The figures are not directly comparable with those for the same period last year, due to change in the way of reporting, see "About the statistics".

From April 2004, the accommodation statistics for hotels and similar establishments, camping sites and holiday dwellings will be published simultaneously.
