Increase in guest nights

There were 9 300 guest nights in the collective accommodation establishments on Svalbard in March. This is an increase of 8 per cent from the same period last year.

Norwegian guest nights increased by 12 per cent, while foreign guest nights fell by 10 per cent.

Revenue per available room was NOK 744 in January; an increase of 27 per cent from the same period last year.

Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR)

RevPAR is an important key figure and is defined as lodging revenue (exclusive of meals) divided by number of available rooms. RevPAR expresses potential profit and is an indication of the management’s ability to convert available rooms to income.
