Freight income from Norwegian time and bareboat charter parties was NOK 9.8 billion in 2007. This represented 9 per cent of total freight income. In 2006, the share was 9.9 per cent. Freight income from foreign time and bareboat charter parties reached NOK 29.3 billion in 2007, representing 26.9 per cent of total gross freight. The corresponding share in 2006 was 22.5 per cent.
Total gross freights for enterprises engaged in foreign going trade amounted to NOK 108.9 in 2007. This is an increase of 3.8 per cent from 2006. The net operating margin was 26.7 per cent in 2007, compared with 24.7 per cent in 2006. The operating result reached NOK 29 in 2007, which is in excess of NOK 3 billion more than in 2006.
More freight income from foreign charterers
Gross freight income from foreign time and bareboat charter parties increased by 24.4 per cent from 2006 to 2007. Gross freight income from Norwegian time and bareboat charter parties decreased by 5.7 per cent in the same period. Time charter income for supply vessels operating on the Norwegian continental shelf also fell, by 20.8 per cent.
Increased freight income in liner trade
Enterprises in liner trade for transportation of goods had an increase in freight income. Gross freight income for these enterprises rose by 16.1 per cent from NOK 13.3 billion in 2006 to NOK 15.5 billion in 2007.
Slight increase in operating costs
Total operating costs for vessels in foreign going trade amounted to NOK 79.8 billion in 2007. This was only NOK 800 million more than in 2006; an increase of 1 per cent from 2006. Operating costs related to commission for charterers, brokers and agents increased by 21.2 per cent, while operating costs related to the administration and management of ships sank by 39.4 per cent.
The cost for lubrication oil went up by 25.4 per cent and loading and unloading costs went up by 22.5 per cent from 2006 to 2007. The cost for gross salary and social benefits for the vessels crew increased by 17.5 per cent, from NOK 6.2 billion in 2006 to NOK 7.3 billion in 2007.
