Increased turnover
The turnover of establishments in transport, storage and communication increased by 1.5 per cent in the second quarter of 2002 compared with the second quarter of 2003. For hotels and restaurants the turnover decreased by 0.2 per cent in the same period.
Turnover in transport, storage and communication increased
The index of land and pipeline transport increased by 3.2 per cent from the second quarter of 2002 to the second quarter of 2003. The water transport industry experienced an increase in turnover of 8.9 per cent in the same period. The turnover of sea transport increased by 9 per cent, while the turnover of domestic maritime transport increased by 8.6 per cent. Air transport experienced a 5.5 per cent decrease in turnover during the second quarter of 2003 compared with the year before. Establishments in industries of supporting and auxiliary transport activities and activities of travel agencies experienced a decrease of 4.1 per cent in the same period. The turnover of establishments in post and telecommunications remained unchanged.
Domestic maritime transport is the sum of the following industries: 61.103 Unscheduled transport in Norwegian coastal waters, 61.104 Scheduled long distance inland transport in coastal waters, 61.106 Tugs and supply vessels in Norwegian coastal waters, 61.109 Other coastal water transport in Norway, and 61.200 Inland water transport. |
Small decrease for hotels and restaurants
The index of hotels and restaurants decreased by 0.2 per cent in the second quarter of 2003 compared with the second quarter of 2003. The turnover for hotels increased by 1.2 per cent, while the turnover of restaurants decreased by 1.8 per cent.
