We spend more money in restaurants

Compared with the second quarter of 2006, the solid growth in turnover seems to continue in the accommodation and restaurant industries in the second quarter of 2007.

 
 

Hotels and restaurants increased turnover by 14.1 per cent from the same quarter previous year. The turnover for hotels increased by 11 per cent, while the restaurants increased by 16.6 per cent.

In addition, bars and canteens experienced a 19.5 and 14 per cent increase, respectively

More land transports

Businesses within land and pipeline transports increased their turnover by 9.8 per cent from the second quarter of 2006. Other land transports rose by 14.1 per cent. Freight transport by road and taxi operators is included in this group. Railways went up by 8.7 per cent, and pipeline transports dropped by 2.3 per cent.

Air transports went up

Air transports increased by 10.8 per cent. Growth was strongest in scheduled air transports where turnover rose by 12 per cent. Growth within non-scheduled air transports turnover increased by 5.3 per cent.

Up for post and telecommunication services

Businesses within post and telecommunication experience a 5.4 per cent (1) increase in turnover compared with the same period previous year. Post and courier activities went up 8.4 per cent. Radio and television activities experienced a slight recession.

Figures for the second quarter are based on data for April 2007. Because of this, figures are vulnerable for change.
