Continued growth for transportation and storage
Turnover in the industry section “transportation and storage” increased 8 per cent in the second quarter this year compared with the same quarter of 2013.

The preliminary figures for the second quarter this year show continued growth in turnover for most of the divisions under ‘transport and storage’. ‘Water transport’ had a turnover growth of 8.1 per cent from the second quarter 2013 to the second quarter this year. ‘Warehousing and support activities for transportation’ had a growth of 7.4 per cent, and turnover for ‘freight rail transport’ fell 2 per cent in the second quarter of 2014 compared with the same quarter in 2013.
Turnover growth for information and communication
The industry section ‘information and communication’ had a turnover growth of 3.9 per cent from the second quarter of 2013 to the second quarter of 2014. The industry division ‘telecommunication’ had an increase of turnover of 4.5 per cent, while the industry division ‘information service activities’ increased its turnover by 7.7 per cent.
Moderate growth in accommodation and food and beverage service activities
In the first quarter of 2014, the turnover growth in the industry section ‘accommodation and food and beverage service activities’ was 2.5 per cent. The industry division for ‘accommodation’ had a decrease of 0.8 per cent, while the industry division ‘food and beverage service activities’ had an increase of 4.3 per cent.
