Decrease in trade surplus
Norwegian exports in November came to 40.5 billion kroner of which crude oil, natural gas and natural gas condensates came to 22.2 billion. With imports of 23.5 billion, the trade surplus was 17.0 billion kroner, whereas in November 2000 the surplus was 26.5 billion.
The decrease in the surplus came mainly from reduced value of exports of crude oil, from 26.8 billion kroner in November 2000, to 14.5 billion in November this year. In addition the value of exports of refined petroleum products, metals and fish were lower than last year.

Adjusted for seasonality, the values of external trade in traditional goods show decreases of 0.7 per cent for exports and 3.5 per cent for imports from October. For the three-month period from September to November the export decreased by 4.9 per cent and imports by 5.8 per cent compared with the period from June to August.
Weekly prices of farm-bred fish
During November the export of fish and fish products amounted to 3.0 billion kroner, a decrease of 10 per cent compared with November last year. Exports of fresh and chilled salmon came to 600 million kroner, at an average price of 23.35 kroner per kilogramme, down 15 per cent from last year. A new method has been implemented to edit the data of the weekly statistics of exports of farm-bred salmon - price and quantity - that are published on Statistics Norway's web-site, at http://www.ssb.no/english/subjects/09/05/laks_en/ .
The figures are exclusive of ships and mobile oil platforms, the same as for traditional goods imports. For exports, traditional goods are also exclusive of crude oil and natural gas and from January 2001 also exclusive of natural gas condensates.
