Traditional exports passing NOK 22 billion
Exports of traditional goods came to NOK 22.0 billion in April - an increase of 23.7 per cent compared with April 2004. The export value of crude oil, natural gas and condensates was NOK 35.0 billion, even this a considerable increase. With an import value of NOK 29.3 billion the trade surplus in April ended at NOK 27.7 billion - an increase of NOK 8.3 billion compared with April last year.

The export value of crude oil came to NOK 24.5 billion. This is an increase of 4.8 billion compared with April last year. The price per barrel of crude oil was NOK 324, against NOK 233 in April last year. The number of exported barrels was much lower, however, at 75.6 million compared with 84.3 million. The export value of natural gas last month ended at NOK 8.4 billion, an increase of NOK 2.8 billion.
Seasonally adjusted figures: imports down and exports up
According to seasonally adjusted figures imports of traditional goods decreased by 0.4 per cent for the last three months compared with the period October 2004 to January 2005. Corresponding figures for traditional exports in the three last months show a 3.6 per cent increase compared with the period from October to January.

Exports - oil products, metals and machinery
The export value of traditional goods was NOK 22,0 billion in April, an increase of NOK 4.2 billion from April last year. The export value of refined mineral products increased by slightly more than one billion. Both quantities and especially prices increased for the main products in this group. The export values of butanes, propane and electric current also increased considerably compared with April last year.
For metals, the value of iron and steel increased by NOK 420 million, other metals by NOK 230 million and metal goods by NOK 180 million. In the group machinery, the export value increased the most for power generating machinery, machinery for special industries and general industrial machinery.
The export value of fish increased by NOK 475 million, and ended at NOK 2.4 billion last month.
Increase in imports of machinery, metals and cars
Imports of traditional goods came to NOK 29.3 billion in April, and increase of NOK 4.7 billion compared with April 2004. Among machinery, the import values of power generating machinery, machinery for special industries and general industrial machinery all rise by several hundred million. Road vehicles showed an increase of NOK 800 million compared with April last year.
The import values of iron and steel, other metals and metals goods all rose by NOK 150 million to NOK 300 million.
