Volume indices adjusted for seasonality 3rd quarter 2007-3rd quarter 2010. 2000=100

Ships and oil platforms are excluded in all figures for exports and imports of goods.

The reduced prices of imported goods were mainly caused by lower prices on crude materials, including metalliferous ores and metal scrap. Prices of mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials also declined from the second to the third quarter. Compared to the third quarter 2009 the prices of imported goods fell 0.7 per cent. In this period, prices of chemicals and related products, machinery and transport equipment together with miscellaneous manufactured articles mainly caused the overall decline in import prices.

The volume of imports fell 2.2 per cent from the second to the third quarter. Reduced volume of crude materials together with mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials made up the most important contribution to this decrease.

Higher export prices, lower volume

Prices of Norwegian exports rose by 1.3 per cent from the second to the third quarter. The increase was mainly caused by higher prices of natural gas, chemicals and manufactured goods. Compared to the third quarter of 2009 prices were 9.2 per cent higher in the third quarter this year. During this period there has been an increase in almost all product groups, except for chemicals and related materials together with machinery and transport equipments.

The volume of exports fell 6.3 per cent from the second to the third quarter this year. The volume of exports, excluding oil and natural gas, were 1.5 per cent higher, mainly due to higher exports of food products.
