Increased price and volume indices of exports
The volume index of Norwegian exports increased by 4.5 per cent in the 3rd quarter of 1999 compared with the same quarter last year. The volume index for traditional goods increased by 2.6 per cent in the same period. The volume index for imports decreased by 4.2 per cent in the 3rd quarter.
The price (unit value) index of Norwegian exports was 22 per cent higher in the 3rd quarter of 1999 than in the 3rd quarter last year. For exports of traditional goods the price index increased by 0.8 per cent. The price index for imports was 3.9 per cent lower than in the 3rd quarter last year.
Compared with the previous quarter and adjusted for seasonality, the volume index for exports increased by 1.2 per cent in the 3rd quarter. For traditional goods the seasonally adjusted volume index decreased by 1.0 per cent compared with the previous quarter. The seasonally adjusted volume index for imports was 0.1 per cent higher in the 3rd quarter than in the previous quarter.
Price and volume indices for external trade comprise merchandise exclusive of ships and mobile oil platforms. In exports of traditional goods, crude oil and natural gas are also excluded.
