Here, approximately as many women as men are on the electoral lists. The majority of the candidates are men above 40 years of age. In total, 2 100 of the list nominees have an immigrant background. This portion has increased from the election in 2007 where 2.8 per cent of the nominees had an immigrant background, to this year’s election where the proportion is 3.5 per cent. The three largest groups come from Sweden, Denmark and Germany. Twenty-two per cent of the nominees with an immigrant background come from these countries. Among candidates with a background from countries in Asia, Africa or Latin America, the largest groups come from Iran (115), Iraq (70), Pakistan (64) and Somalia (59).
The gender distribution among nominees with an immigrant background is more even than for all candidates as a whole - 51 per cent men and 49 per cent women. However, there are major differences in this distribution depending on which country background the nominee has.
