3 636 200 entitled to vote
Around 3 636 200 people will be entitled to vote at the Storting election this year. Among these we find 1 085 600 elderly voters aged 60 years+, 248 900 first time voters and 206 800 Norwegian citizens with an immigrant background.

In total, the number of people entitled to vote in this year’s election has increased by 3.1 percentage points since the last Storting election in 2009. Compared to the Storting election four years ago, Oslo county has seen the highest growth in the total number of people entitled to vote, with an increase of 19 100 voters. On the other hand, the total number of people entitled to vote has only increased by 100 in Sogn- and Fjordane county.
A stable share of young electors
A total of 248 900 people are entitled to vote for the first time in a general election, including 124 500 18-19 year-olds. The total figure is almost the same as for the Storting election in 2009. The highest portion of people entitled to vote for the first time in a general election compared to the total number of people entitled to vote can be seen in the counties of Rogaland, Vest-Agder and Sogn- and Fjordane, with a share of 8 per cent. The lowest portions are in Oslo (5 per cent), Hedmark and Buskerud counties (6 per cent).
30 per cent of all voters are elderly
The number of elderly electors aged 60 years+ is 1 085 600, which is about 66 300 more than four years ago. The largest group of elderly electors compared to total number of electors is in Hedmark and Oppland, with 35 per cent of all persons entitled to vote. The lowest shares of elderly electors compared to total number of electors are in Oslo (24 per cent) and Rogaland counties (26 per cent).
More Norwegian citizens with immigrant background entitled to vote
A total of 206 800 Norwegian citizens with an immigrant background are entitled to vote in the Storting election this year, an increase of 42 700 people compared to the Storting election in 2009. This is an increase of 26 per cent. As a portion of the total number of people entitled to vote in this election, the percentage has increased from 4.7 in 2005 to 5.7 in 2009.
As in the Storting election in 2009, people with a background from Pakistan (20 200), Vietnam (14 400), Iraq (12 600) and Iran (11 400) constitute the largest groups among Norwegian citizens with an immigrant background entitled to vote. The largest growth is in electors with a background from Somalia and Iraq, which make up 5.7 and 6.1 per cent of the total number of electors among Norwegian citizens with an immigrant background.
