Increase in retail sales

The seasonally-adjusted volume index of retail sales increased by 2 percent from January 2020 to February 2020. This follows an increase of 0.5 percent from December 2019 to January 2020.

The long-term trend in the retail sales now shows a peak in the summer of 2019, followed by a decrease in the fall, and flat development over the last few months. The effects of the coronavirus are, however, expected to impact retail sales starting in March so this flat development is likely to be temporary.
