1.4 million litres more beer
Compared to the same quarter last year, the registered turnover of beer went up by 1.4 million litres. This is an increase of 2.0 per cent.
The third quarter this year, the total registered turnover of beer in Norway was 70.3 million litres. Registered turnover of wine in the third quarter this year was 15.2 million litres. This is an increase of 148 000 litres, or 1.0 per cent, compared to the same quarter last year. Sales of spirits and alco pops rose by respectively 23 000 and 11 000 litres in this period. The total registered turnover of spirits and alco pops was 2.9 and 2.7 million litres.
6.2 million litres of pure alcohol
Registered turnover in all was 6.2 million litres of pure alcohol in the third quarter 2006. This divides into 3.1 million litres of beer, 1.8 million litres of wine, 1.1 million litres of spirits and 120 000 litres of alco pops.
The figures are calculated based on registered imports and figures reported to the Directorate of Customs and Excise (TAD) and by businesses that pay tax on alcohol sales. The figures do not include Norwegian citizens' purchase of alcohol abroad.
