We bought 32.6 million litres of wine

The registered turnover of wine was 32.6 million litres during the first half year of 2008, an increase of 1.2 million litres or 3.7 per cent from the same period of 2007.

Turnover of spirits, wine, beer and alcopops. 1000 litres pure alcohol

Registered turnover of beer in Norway increased by 2.4 per cent or 3.0 million litres from the first half year of 2007 to the first half year of 2008. Turnover of spirits registered in Norway rose by 85 000 litres or 1.5 per cent the same period.

In the second quarter this year the turnover of wine and beer increased by 2.8 and 2.4 respectively, while the turnover of spirits decreased by 0.7 per cent from the second quarter last year.

12.3 million litres pure alcohol

The turnover of pure alcohol was 12.3 million litres the first half year of 2008. Out of these, 5.8 million litres came from beer, while 4.0 and 2,2 million litres came from wine and spirits respectively. 237 000 litres came from alcopops.

Measured in pure alcohol each capita above15 years of age drank an average of 3.2 litres of pure alcohol during the first half year of 2008. This is an increase of 0.02 litres or 1.2 per cent compared with the same period last year.

The figures are calculated based on registered imports and figures reported to the Directorate of Customs and Excise (TAD) by businesses that pay tax on alcohol sales. The figures do not include Norwegian citizens' purchase of alcohol abroad.
