70 million litres of beer
The registered turnover of beer was more than 70 million litres in the third quarter this year; an increase of almost 3 million litres or 4.3 per cent. The turnover of wine and spirits increased by 6.3 and 1.9 per cent respectively.
Registered turnover of wine, spirits and alcopops was 16.8, 3.1 and 3.3 million litres respectively.
Highest increase in wine
The registered turnover of wine was almost 49.3 million litres during the first three quarters this year; 2.2 million litres or 4.6 per cent more than the same period last year. In the same period, the turnover of beer was more than 200 million litres. This is equivalent to an increase of 3.1 per cent compared with the same period last year. The turnover of spirits was 8.8 million litres; 1.6 per cent more than the first three quarters last year.
Nearly 19 million litres pure alcohol
The turnover of pure alcohol was 18.9 million litres during the first three quarters this year. Of this, 8.9 million litres were generated from beer, while 6.1 and 3.4 million litres came from wine and spirits respectively, and 386 000 litres was from alcopops.
