More wine and beer
The registered turnover of wine increased by almost 3 million litres or 4.3 per cent from 2007 to 2008. In the same period, turnover of beer rose by 7 million litres. This is equivalent to a rise of 2.7 per cent.
From the 4th quarter 2007 to the 4th quarter 2008, the registered turnover of wine rose by 0.7 million litres or 3.7 per cent. The turnover of beer increased by 0.9 million litres, or 1.4 per cent during the same period.
In 2008, the turnover of spirits increased by 90 000 litres. This is equivalent to a rise of 0.7 per cent. In the 4t h quarter last year, the registered turnover of spirits was 1.3 per cent lower than the same quarter in 2007.
25.8 million litres of pure alcohol
The total turnover of pure alcohol was 25.8 million litres in 2008. Of this, 11.7 million litres were generated from beer, while 8.5 and 5.1 million litres came from wine and spirits respectively, and 500 000 litres were from alcopops.
Measured as pure alcohol, the consumption of alcohol among people aged 15 over was 6.75 litres in 2008. This is an increase of 0.15 litres or 2.3 per cent from 2007.
The figures are calculated based on registered imports and figures reported to the Directorate of Customs and Excise (TAD) by businesses that pay tax on alcohol sales. The figures do not include Norwegian citizens' purchase of alcohol abroad. |
