Increased sales of alcohol

The registered turnover of beer increased by almost 11 million litres in the first half of 2016. Turnover of wine and spirits increased by almost 1 million litres and 47 000 litres respectively compared to the same period last year.

This is equivalent to an increase of 9.4 per cent for beer, 2.3 per cent for wine and 1.0 per cent for spirits. Registered turnover for alco pops increased almost 20 per cent from the first half of 2015.

The total registered turnover was 125 million litres of beer, 36.4 million litres of wine, 8 million litres of alco pops and 4.8 million litres of spirits during the first half of 2016.

During the 2nd quarter of this year, the turnover of beer, wine and spirits rose by 14.4, 9.4 and 6.6 per cent respectively compared to the same period last year. 1

Registered turnover of pure alcohol was 677 000 litres more in the first half of this year compared to last year, which is an increase of almost 6 per cent.
