Increased sales of alcohol

The registered turnover of pure alcohol per capita for the first nine months of 2016 was 4.4 litres, compared to 4.3 litres for the same period in 2015. The increase in turnover of pure alcohol per capita was 2 per cent.

The total registered turnover for the first nine months of 2016 measured in pure alcohol was 18.8 million litres. This is an increase of 597 000 litres of pure alcohol compared with the same period of 2015, and is equivalent to an increase of 3.3 per cent.

The total registered turnover for the first nine months of 2016 was 188.4 million litres of beer, 54.6 million litres of wine, 12.2 million litres of alco pops and 7.5 million litres of spirits.

Largest increase in beer

The registered turnover of beer increased by 9 million litres in the period January-September 2016 compared with the same period of 2015. In the same period, the turnover of alco pops, wine and spirits increased by 1.3 million litres, 704 000 litres and 38 000 litres respectively.

This is equivalent to an increase of 5.1 per cent for beer, 11.6 per cent for alco pops, 1.3 per cent for wine and 0.5 per cent for spirits.

Decline in turnover for the 3rd quarter

There was a drop in registered turnover for all types of alcohol in the 3rd quarter of 2016 compared to the 3rd quarter of 2015. The decrease was 2.6 per cent for beer, 0.6 per cent for wine, 0.9 per cent for alco pops and 0.4 per cent for spirits.
