Change in method of seasonal adjustmentA small change has been made to the choice of method for seasonal adjustment. Total range is now indirectly adjusted by an aggregation of the seasonally-adjusted series. A review of historical figures has shown that this is a good method. For the individual series in which 1 January has not previously been modelled, the correction of working days has now been modified so that 1 January is regarded as a Sunday. |
Index of retail sales - objective and scopeThe objective of the Index of retail sales is to describe the value and volume development in retail sales, excluding sales of motor vehicles. Retail sales consist of enterprises involved in the sale of new and used goods to private households. The sale is executed from either a fixed or moveable sales outlet, a market place or via the Internet or mail order. Examples of retail sales can be: sale of food, beverages, clothing, shoes, domestic electrical appliances, furniture, building equipment and so on. Value indices and volume indicesValue indices show the development in turnover not adjusted for changes in prices. Volume indices show the development in turnover corrected for price changes. This is also referred to as the development in fixed prices. |
