Small increase in retail sales
The seasonally-adjusted volume index of retail sales showed an increase of 0.2 per cent from July to August 2013. This follows a decrease of 1.3 per cent from June to July.

Sales of furniture, sport goods and online sales contributed to the increase in the volume index from July to August 2013. Sales of construction materials and electrical household appliances also showed an increase.
Retail sales in grocery stores and of food, beverages and tobacco in specialised stores had a decline in sales volume during this period. Sales in petrol stations also showed a decline.
