Fall in advertising and market research activity

The establishments within the section professional, scientific and technical activities increased turnover by 11.2 per cent from the first quarter of 2008 to the first quarter of 2009. However, within advertising and market research, which is a part of this section, the turnover decreased by 5.8 per cent during this period. Architectural and engineering activities and technical testing and analysis had the largest growth within this area by 18.2 per cent.

Decline for travel agencies and employment activities

Within the section for administrative and support service activities, the turnover increased by only 0.2 per cent from the first quarter of 2008 to the first quarter of 2009. Within travel agencies and tour operators, the turnover had a decrease by 9.6 per cent from the first quarter of 2008 to the first quarter of 2009. Employment activities also experienced a decline in turnover during this period, by 4.2 per cent. Services to buildings and landscape activities had the largest growth in turnover within this area, by 17.3 per cent.

The turnover within real estate activities increased by 11.0 per cent from the first quarter of 2008 to the first quarter of 2009.

Important announcement: New industry classification

A new version of Norwegian industry classification (SIC2007) was implemented in January 2009. The index of real estate, renting and business activities will be affected from the publishing of the figures for the 1st quarter of 2009. The present section will be divided into three new sections: 1) Real estate activities, 2) Professional, scientific and technical activities and 3) Administrative and support service activities. Furthermore, activities within other development and sale of real estate will be moved to the section Construction. Veterinary activities will be included as a part of the new section professional, scientific and technical activities.
