NOK 40 billion in computer activities

The total turnover from local kind-of-activity units (KAUs) in computer and related activities was NOK 40 billion in 2000, an increase of 14.0 per cent compared with 1999. The same local KAUs employed 36 250 persons.

The wage costs of the 6 492 local KAUs for computer and related activities amounted to NOK 17.1 billion in 2000. The largest subclass, software consultancy and supply, consisted of 5 028 local KAUs and had a turnover of NOK 28.3 billion, an increase of 12.0 per cent compared with 1999.

3 per cent increase in research and development

The subclass of research and development had 271 local KAUs and a turnover of NOK 5.8 billion in 2000, this is a 3.0 per cent increase from 1999 to 2000. The total wage costs of the same local KAUs were NOK 3.2 billion.

15 per cent growth in accounting, book-keeping, auditing activity and tax consultancy

"Other business activities" contains several different subclasses. These local KAUs had a turnover of NOK 115.2 billion and 159 900 employees, an increase of 10.0 and 6.0 per cent respectively compared with 1999. The turnover within the subclasses accounting, book-keeping, auditing activities and tax consultancy and civil engineering activities were NOK 9.7 and NOK 8.1 billion in 2000, this is an increase of 15.0 and 13.0 per cent respectively compared with 1999.

Local KAUs and enterprises

The structural statistics is published in both enterprises level and local KAU level. The figures on the enterprise level may differ from those on local KAU level. This is due to some enterprises being registered in one industry subclass after main activity, but also consisting of local KAUs in other subgroups. More about this and other definitions can be found in the "About the statistics".

Users should also know that the revision of industry codes in the Central Register of Establishments and Enterprises have led to considerable changes for some of the industries. Subsequently, the figures for 2000 are not fully comparable to previously published figures for 1999.
