NOK 790 spent on hair and beauty
On average each Norwegian spent NOK 790 on hairdressing and other beauty treatment in 1998. In addition it was spent NOK 835 millions on physical well-being activities. This is a 16 per cent increase from 1997.
The number of local kind of activity units and employees in hairdressing and other beauty treatment was nearly unchanged from 1997 to 1998. Turnover, however, rose by 12 per cent to NOK 3.5 billion. Employment in physical well-being activities increased by 397 persons to 3259 from 1997 to 1998.
444 units in washing and dry-cleaning businesses had a total turnover of NOK 1.4 billion. This is a 6 per cent increase from the year before. There has been practically no change in employment in this industry.
Turnover in funeral and related activities increased by 6 per cent from 1997 to 1998. Employment was stable.
Sewage and refuse disposal, sanitation and similar activities had a growth in turnover by 16 per cent to NOK 3.9 billion in 1998. Employment rose by 8 per cent to 3 795 persons.
