Food and beverage up NOK 5 billion

Retail sales in grocery stores together with food and beverages in specialised stores increased by almost NOK 5 billion, or 4.7 per cent, during January to August 2012 compared to the same period in 2011.

In total, these stores had a turnover of NOK 108 billion in the first eight months of the year. This makes up 40 per cent of the total turnover within retail sales.

The total turnover in retail sales in the first eight months this year was NOK 272 billion, which is 4.6 per cent more than the same period last year. The monthly index of retail sales shows the same trend.

In July and August this year the turnover in retail sales increased by 2.8 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Trade and repair of motor vehicles up 5 per cent

Sales of motor vehicles and repairs of motor vehicles totalled NOK 129 billion in the first eight months of 2012; a growth of 5.0 per cent compared to the same period last year. In July and August this year, motor vehicle sales and repairs totalled NOK 31.8 billion; an increase of 6.2 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Wholesale of NOK 535 billion

The turnover in wholesale was NOK 535 billion in the first eight months of 2012. This is an increase of almost NOK 26 billion or 5 per cent compared to the same period in 2011. In July and August this year, the growth was 4.6 per cent from the same period last year.

The figures do not include value added tax.
