Retail sales of NOK 287 billion
The total turnover in retail sales in Norway from January to August 2014 was NOK 287 billion, which corresponds to an increase of NOK 8.7 billion or 3.1 per cent compared to the same period in 2013.

By comparison, the Index of retail sales showed an increase of 2.9 per cent during the same period. Mail order and Internet stores had the highest growth in turnover, with sales of NOK 8.5 billion during the first eight months this year. This is an increase of more than NOK 1.2 billion, up 17.1 per cent, compared to the same period last year.
In July and August 2014 (the fourth period), the turnover was NOK 77 billion; an increase of 2.2 per cent or NOK 1.7 billion compared with the same period in 2013. The good weather this summer contributed to growth in turnover for sports equipment and leisure boats together with fish and shellfish, with 14.6 and 12.5 per cent respectively.
Trade and repair of motor vehicles increased
The sales and repair of motor vehicles had an increase of NOK 5.2 billion during the first eight months of 2014 compared to the same period in 2013; a growth of 4.0 per cent.
In the fourth period, the sales and repair of motor vehicles increased by NOK 1.0 billion compared to the same period in 2013; an increase of 3.2 per cent.
Wholesale of NOK 570 billion
The turnover in wholesale was NOK 570 billion in the first eight months of 2014, which is an increase of 4.4 per cent compared to the same period last year.
In the fourth period in 2014, the growth in wholesale turnover was NOK 1.4 billion or 1.0 per cent more than the same period in 2013.
