Growth in online shopping

Online shopping is as popular as ever, and groceries, furniture and sports equipment in particular have the highest increase.

In 2015, online stores in Norway had a total turnover of NOK 16 billion; an increase of 14.3 per cent from 2014. Norwegians are also drawn to stores with a broad range of goods, where the main emphasis is on items for the home, clothing, toys and hobby products. These stores had an increase in turnover of 8.7 per cent compared to the year before. The year 2015 was also a good year for the sale of sports equipment and leisure boats. These stores had an increase of 7.1 per cent from the year before. Overall, most money is spent in grocery stores, which account for 35 per cent of the total retail trade in 2015.

The turnover in retail sales in Norway was NOK 464 billion in 2015, which corresponds to an increase of 3.4 per cent compared to the same period in 2014. By comparison, the index of retail sales showed an increase of 3.2 per cent.

In November and December (6th period) the turnover in retail sales was nearly NOK 89 billion; an increase of 3.3 per cent from the same period the year before. 

Trade and repair of motor vehicles increased by 9.7 per cent

The sales and repair of motor vehicles had a turnover of almost NOK 225 billion in 2015. Compared to the same period in 2014 this is a growth of 9.7 per cent.

In November and December, the sales and repair of motor vehicles rose by 14.6 per cent compared to the same period the year before.

Wholesale of NOK 876 billion

The turnover in wholesale was NOK 876 billion last year, which is an increase of 3.5 per cent from 2014.

In November and December 2015, the turnover was NOK 158 billion, which is 5.7 per cent more than the same period in 2014.
