Online shopping up – ICT down
The turnover in online shopping was more than NOK 11 billion in the first eight months of 2016; an increase of 14.0 per cent from the same period in 2015.

Even though the turnover in online shopping is increasing, the share of online shopping in the total retail sales is still small – 3.6 per cent of the total retail sales. On the other hand, stores that sell ICT equipment had a drop of 2.6 per cent. The total retail sales were nearly NOK 308 billion in the first eight months this year; a growth of 3.1 per cent from the year before. By comparison, the index of retail sales showed an increase of 2.9 per cent during the same period.
In July and August (4th period), the retail sales had a turnover of almost NOK 82 billion; an increase of 2.4 per cent from the 4th period last year.
Increase in trade and repair of motor vehicles
Sales and repair of motor vehicles totalled NOK 160 billion in the first six months of 2016; a growth of 10.0 per cent compared to the same period in 2015.
In the fourth period, the sales and repair of motor vehicles increased by 8.1 per cent compared to the same period in 2015.
Wholesale of NOK 488 billion
The turnover in wholesale was NOK 588 billion during the first eight months of this year, an increase of 5.4 per cent from last year.
In the fourth period, the wholesale turnover was 4.7 per cent more than the same period in 2015.
