Increase in online shopping
Online shopping is as popular as ever, and trade with groceries, furniture and electronics in particular saw the greatest increase.

In 2016, online stores in Norway had a total turnover of almost NOK 18.5 billion; an increase of 13 per cent from 2015. Pharmacies also had a high increase in this period, up 8 per cent from the year before. In total, most money is spent in grocery stores, which account for 36 per cent of the total retail trade in 2016.
The turnover in retail sales in Norway was NOK 475 billion in 2016, which corresponds to an increase of 3.0 per cent compared to the same period in 2015. By comparison, the index of retail sales showed an increase of 2.7 per cent.
In November and December (6th period), the turnover in retail sales was NOK 91 billion; an increase of 3.4 per cent from the same period the year before.
Trade and repair of motor vehicles increased by 10 per cent
The sales and repair of motor vehicles had a turnover of almost NOK 248 billion in 2016. Compared to the same period in 2015, this is a growth of 10 per cent.
In November and December, the sales and repair of motor vehicles rose by 12.7 per cent compared to the same period the year before.
Wholesale of NOK 901 billion
The turnover in wholesale was NOK 902 billion last year, which is an increase of 5.5 per cent from 2015.
In November and December 2016, the turnover was 6.4 per cent more than the same period in 2015.
