12 950 new enterprises

12 950 new enterprises were registered during the first quarter 2004. This is an increase of 1 985 compared with the last quarter in 2003. These figures include all enterprises except public administration, agriculture, forestry and fishing.

Statistics from the Central Register of Establishments and Enterprises substantiate this development.

Increase compared to first quarter 2003

There is an increase of 1 395 new registered enterprises compared with the first quarter in 2003, whereas the increase compared with the last quarter in 2003 is even larger. About 91 per cent of the new enterprises were new established enterprises. This means that the enterprise is not registered to take over an existing establishment.
