A slight increase in new enterprises in 2005
A large number of new privat limited enterprises were registered during the 4th quarter of 2005 as a consequence of changes in the tax legislation. For all other legal forms there is a slight increase in the number of new enteprises from in 2005 compared to 2004. These figures include all new enterprises, except agriculture, forestry and fishing and public administration.
Statistics from the Central Register of Establishments and Enterprises at Statistics Norway substantiate this development.
A total of 20 691 new privat limited companies were registered during the 4t h quarter of 2005, an increase of 16 895 compared to the same period in 2004. During 2005 the number of new privat limited companies amounted to 33 426, an increase of 20 541 compared to 2004. Approximately 17 000 of these were registered as a result of changes in the tax legislation. Final figures on the number of new enterprises in 2005 and the 4t h quarter of 2005 will be published 31s t of March.
New enterprises excluding privat limited companies
For all other legal forms than privat limited companies there was a slight increase in the number of new enterprises from 2004 to 2005. A total of 35 024 new enterprises were registered during 2005, an increase of 942 (2,8 per cent) compared to 2004. 8 470 new enterprises were registered during the 4t h quarter of 2005, a decrease of 455 (5,1 per cent) compared to the same period in 2004.
Most new enterprises are registered as sole proprietorships. During 2005 29 072 new sole proprietorships were registered, only 55 less than in 2004. The number of new sole proprietorships durung the 4t h quarter of 2005 amounted to 6 787 , a decrease of 703 (9,4 per cent) compared to the same period in 2004.
