Decreasing number of new enterprises

11 253 new enterprises were registered in Norway during the third quarter of 2008. This is a decrease of 1 525 (12 per cent) enterprises compared to the third quarter of 2007.

Almost 95 per cent of new enterprises are newly established enterprises, whereas the remaining 5 per cent are takeovers.

Figures on new enterprises by economic activity code, legal form, county and municipality can be found in the StatBank. Stock of enterprises by 1 January 2001-2007 and enterprise dropouts in 2001-2006 are also available.
