Continuous decrease in new enterprises

In the fourth quarter of 2008, 11 515 new enterprises were registered. This is equal to a decrease of 12.1 per cent compared to the same period in 2007.

New enterprises, newly established enterprises and take-overs. 2001-2008

In total, 49 832 new enterprises were registered in 2008. This is a decrease of 6.5 per cent compared to the previous year. About 46 500 of the new enterprises are newly established enterprises, while nearly 3 300 were takeovers. Not since 2004 has the number of new enterprises been below 50 000.
