12 049 new enterprises

A total of 12 049 new enterprises were registered in Norway during the first quarter of 2009. This is a decrease of over 14 per cent compared with the first quarter of 2008.

Compared with the fourth quarter of 2008, 342 more enterprises were registered; an increase of 2.9 per cent. A total of 11 258 of the new enterprises were newly-established enterprises, and the remaining 791 were takeovers.
