Fewer new enterprises

A total of 11 759 new enterprises were registered during the 4th quarter of 2011. This is 6 per cent less than in the 4th quarter of 2010.

New enterprises 2001-2011

A total of 49 948 new enterprises were registered in 2011; an increase of 1.6 per cent compared with 2010.

Increasing number of limited liability companies

The number of new limited liability companies increased by 12.8 per cent in 2011 compared to the previous year. Six out of ten new enterprises in 2011 were limited liability companies, and three out of ten were registered as sole proprietorships.

Most new enterprises were registered within professional, scientific and technical activities (14.3 per cent) and construction (13.8 per cent).

One out of three new enterprises in 2011 were registered in the counties Oslo or Akershus.

The figures include all new enterprises except enterprises within agriculture, forestry, fishing and public administration. These figures can be found in StatBank by economic activity, legal form, county and municipality.
