Increased oil tax
Assessed taxes for companies assessed by the Petroleum Tax Act amounted to NOK 97.2 billion in 2003. This was NOK 5.8 billion or 6 per cent more than in 2002.
42 companies were involved in oil and gas extraction on the Norwegian Continental Shelf in 2003. Assessed income tax for these companies amounted to NOK 37 billion, and assessed special tax amounted to NOK 60.1 billion.
160 foreign companies engaged in maintenance, repair and services for the extraction companies, were assessed a total of NOK 94 million in income tax.
The statistics are based on information obtained from the Petroleum Tax Office and the Central Office - Foreign Tax Affairs. A new year-cycle with revised routines and assessment periods was introduced in connection with the assessment of business activities in 2003. This may result in revisions in the figures.
