Strong increase in bankruptcies
In the fourth quarter of 2008, the number of bankruptcies was 1 175. This is a rise of 70 per cent compared with the same period in 2007. In 2008 as a whole, the number of bankruptcies was 28 per cent higher than in 2007.
In 2008, the total number of bankruptcies was 3 637. The county of Vest-Agder had the largest rise in percentage terms, with a 170 per cent increase in bankruptcies compared with 2007. The county of Rogaland had the largest increase in absolute figures, with 96 bankruptcies more than the year before.
