Number of bankruptcies still falling
In the third quarter of 2012, the number of bankruptcies was 840. This is a drop of 10 per cent compared with the same quarter last year.
The largest declines in percentage terms were in the counties of Hedmark and Vestfold, with 46 and 35 per cent fewer bankruptcies respectively. Akershus was the county with the largest drop in absolute figures, with 24 fewer bankruptcies. In the counties of Oslo, Rogaland, Hordaland, Møre og Romsdal, Nord-Trøndelag and Finnmark, the number of bankruptcies went up.
A total of 624 bankruptcies were related to enterprises (excl. sole proprietorships). A quarter of these bankruptcies were in wholesale and retail trade. The remaining 216 bankruptcies were related to sole proprietorships and personal bankruptcies. One out of three were in construction.
In the first three quarters of 2012, a total of 2 815 bankruptcies were registered. This is a decline of 14 per cent compared with the same period last year.
